Chapter 39

“You know I can’t say no when you give me that look.” Alexis grinned. She leaned over, touching Calista’s hand. “How would you like to spend the day hanging out with Lynn?”

Calista’s crystal blue eyes doubled in size. “Oh Mommy, can I?” Calista dropped her hash brown on to the wax paper and looked between Lynn and her mother.

“If you want to,” Alexis said. She laughed when Calista jumped up from the chair and threw herself into Lynn’s arms. “I take that as a yes. Are you sure you can handle her?”

“Positive,” Lynn scooted her chair away from the table and allowed Calista to climb into her lap. “We had fun before when we spent the day together, didn’t we?”

“Yep, we did. I talked to Cinderella last night too.” Calista proudly displayed the toy phone that Lynn had bought for her.

“And what did Cinderella have to say?” Lynn asked.

“She told me that you, Mommy, and me were going to live happily ever after in a big sand castle.” Calista clutched the phone against her chest.
