“Yeah,” Katie nodded as she wiped away the tears. Standing, she rushed into Lynn’s arms catching her off guard. With her arms wrapped around Lynn, she sobbed into the curve of her neck. “Thank you.”


Lynn’s hand remained firmly placed on Katie’s back as she met Alexis’s eyes across the room. Alexis too was wiping the tears from her cheeks. “I didn’t do anything,” she said softly.


“Yes, you did.” Katie clung to Lynn. “Keeping this inside has been…” Katie pulled away and moved one finger to her mouth. Lynn cringed as Katie bit down so hard she was certain any moment she would make herself bleed.


“Don’t.” Lynn pulled Katie’s hand away from her mouth and shook her head. “He’s not worth you hurting yourself over him.”


Alexis stepped over, touching Katie’s back. “Lynn is right. Katie, we’re going to catch him. I promise you.”


“Yeah right,” Katie huffed. “Look how many women are dead!”
