Chapter 61

“Yeah,” Alexis replied in a small voice. She forced a smile and looked at Lynn. Even with the bruises, Lynn was the most beautiful woman she had ever laid eyes upon. Alexis was plain, boring, and simple. She had no exotic qualities, bedroom eyes, wads of cash, or invitations to posh events. She would never have her face plastered on billboards, magazines, or TV commercials. And she would never be able to afford fancy room service and five star hotels. Why had she agreed to try a relationship when it would only end in having her heart broken?

Lynn wrapped both arms around Alexis and whispered into her ear, “You don’t look okay.”

“I’m sorry,” Alexis whispered. “I guess I am just exhausted. I can’t believe this is all over.”

“Are you sure that’s all?” Lynn pulled away, placing her palms on to Alexis’s cheeks. “You’ve been so distant today. At times I…I’ve wondered if you even want me to be here.”
