“Oh, Sweetie, I wish there was something I could do to help you.” The back of Lynn’s hand brushed against Katie’s cheek. “You’re all grown up!”
Katie laughed. “I am. I think so at least.” She exhaled, grasping Lynn’s hands with a firm hold. “We have so much to learn about each other.”
“I know.” Lynn kissed Katie’s forehead. “I guess I have to call you Katie instead of Evelyn.”
“Do you mind?” Katie asked with a smile.
“No, I don’t mind. I like Katie too.” Lynn rubbed Katie’s back when she saw her face pale. “Do you need to sit down?”
“No. It’s the morning sickness again. I swear it gets worse every day.” She wrinkled her nose and looked down at her stomach. “And that gets bigger every day.”
Lynn moved her hand to Katie’s stomach. “I will help you anyway I can with this baby. If you decide to keep it, I promise you will have the most awesome nursery ever. And if you want to put it up for adoption, I will find you the best agency.”
