“Sis,” Lynn exhaled. “I like that.” She pulled Katie into her arms and held her. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” Katie closed her eyes, leaning into Lynn’s arms with a smile. “You want to go have a drink? We still have a lot to talk about.”

“A drink sounds like a good idea. Let’s go.” 27

“Well aren’t you Ms. Mary Sunshine today?” Katie sarcastically grinned when she passed by Alexis’s cluttered desk.

“Don’t start with me.” After three days of not hearing from Lynn, Alexis was beginning to realize just how stupid she had been. Every day, Calista asked why she couldn’t see Lynn and each time Alexis tried to explain, another piece of her seemed to fall apart.

“I know the perfect solution.” Katie dropped on to Lynn’s desk and leaned forward. “You need a vacation.”

“A vacation is the last thing I need.” Alexis grumbled as she flipped through the mounds of paperwork that covered her desk. “I can’t afford to take a vacation.”
