Chapter 98

“Shouldn’t we move the dressers and stuff so they’re not blocking the other door?” Ash asked.

Dayna paused. “No. We’ll lock the bathroom door behind us when we leave. If we’re lucky, they’ll just think we’ve locked them out of our room again.”

“They might not notice we’re gone for days,” Kevin exclaimed with a laugh.

Dayna grinned. She could just imagine the look on Tom’s face when, after days of thinking he had been punishing them, he broke down the door to find they were gone.

“Oh, I need my Noofy,” Kevin said. He grabbed his misshapen stuffed animal from the floor and shoved it into his backpack.

“It’s a teddy bear he’s had since he was a baby,” Dayna told Ash.

“That’s supposed to be a teddy bear? It doesn’t even have eyes anymore!” Ash said.

“Hey, don’t talk about Noofy that way. You’ll hurt his feelings,” Kevin said. “He doesn’t have a nose anymore, either. But he still has ears!”

“Oh, sorry, Noofy,” Ash said.
