“Now what are we going to do?” Jaelin asked, sitting on the altar with her chin in her hands. “We’ll never defeat Patadora without the Stone of Cyra. We won’t even be able to find the fourth one. It’s hopeless.”

Wray put an arm around her shoulder. “Never give up hope. We’ll get that Stone somehow.”

With a sigh, Shaela said, “I’m ashamed of you, Airk. I thought you were an awesome warrior, but you let yourself be defeated by that old man without even a second try!”

He tried to put an arm around her shoulders, too, but she promptly shook it off. “I’m not giving up. I just didn’t want to kill him in front of his daughter, is all. Now, what we’ll do is…”

The bushes nearby parted and out stepped Cervicide, followed closely by Elke. “This looks familiar,” Shaela said, reaching out to pet the cat.

“I have something.” Elke held out a fist to Airk. “Here, for you.”
