Chapter 60

Without being asked, Airk proceeded to weave a tale so daring and perilous, Dreux caught himself wishing he could have gone on the journey. The Baret Wray knew of the outlaw’s ability to remember big and decided he would inform Dungan and Skotak later of what really went on. Elke heard a more docile version of what sounded like an impossible voyage from Estelle and Jaelin.

As the outlaw wound down, he said, “The merchant, anxious to do his part to save the world as we know it, eagerly bestowed the fourth and final Stone to our beloved Shaela, who will now show you that elusive piece of rock.”

With a flourish, he bowed to a spattering of applause and everyone turned, craning their necks to look at the Stone Shaela had in her possession.

But Shaela was nowhere to be seen.

Airk heard the mutters of the audience before him and cursed silently. “Where’d she go?”

“I didn’t notice her inside,” Dungan said.
