“Why are you asking me?” Airk’s tone was indignant.


Wray shrugged. “You’re well-traveled. I thought you might’ve been there before.”


“Are you kidding?” Airk replied. “It’s the most dangerous place known to man. Of courseI’ve been there.”


Shaela spoke. “Then tell us about it.”


Catching the challenge in her voice, the outlaw began. “I know you think I exaggerate, but what I tell you now is no exaggeration, though I wish it were. Orizaba is a diseased and decaying land. The only city is Stonehaven, where the Maelnords live. Then there’s Oriza, the palace of Patadora Coggs. Stonehaven I don’t know much about,” he admitted. “I’ve never been inside the city. Unless you’re a Maelnord, you tend to stick out. I’ve never been to Oriza, either. It seems we’ll all learn about it when we get there.”


“Can’t you give us any hint?” Dungan asked.
