“I think the reason for it being served first was the pudding was a fairly cheap foodstuff, and you would satisfy your hunger on that so you wouldn’t need to eat as much of the more expensive main course,” I said, taking two Yorkshire pudding tins—each containing four puddings—out of the oven and bringing them to the table.

“Typical Yorkshire folk, being careful with their brass,” Mark grinned, taking three puddings from one of the tins.
