Chapter 51

Sam groaned. “You didn’t have to prove it!”

“Why did we bring him?” I nodded towards the couch.

“’Cause you love me.”

Mark let go of me with one arm and we each used our free arms to beckon to Sam to join us in a group hug.

“Sorry,” Sam soon said, breaking the hug, “I need the loo.”

“Do you think you can flush it without help this time?” I asked his retreating form.

He turned round and blew me a raspberry.

A little later, Mark said, “We better start unpacking. Sam, you can have a cupboard in our room, and some hanging space in the wardrobe if you need it. I’m sorry you don’t have your own bedroom, but they don’t have many apartments with two bedrooms, and they would have been a lot dearer anyway.”

“It’s fine, thanks. I’ve just got a couple of nice shirts and a pair of trousers to hang up. Though I think I might wear one of the shirts tonight if we’re going out.”

“You’ll be fine as you are. Save those things for more formal occasions,” I told him.
