Chapter 60

I was interrupted by the arrival of Joe, who said, “Ready to work some of those muscles?”

“I guess. Just tell me what to do.”

Philip, having evidently heard Joe’s arrival, wandered in to watch. He had a series of printouts in his hands, which he proceeded to fasten to the wall, saying, “This is your therapy schedule. It includes Joe’s plans for you for the next two weeks, and I’ve penciled in a massage once a week as well, per doctor’s orders,” he said.

“Ready to get started?” Joe said.

“Sure, why not?” I said.

“Most of what we’re going to do until that cast comes off will involve your upper body and, to a certain extent, your good leg,” Joe said. “They’re the sort of things you might expect to do in a regular regimen of exercise, and you won’t have a problem with that. However, when the cast comes off and we start working on that leg, you aren’t going to like it very much at first.”

“I’ll worry about that six weeks from now,” I said.
