Chapter 82

The next morning we again donned shorts and went for a long walk on the beach before breakfast, Lance running and bounding ahead of us. After breakfast, we spent the rest of the day in the same manner as we had the previous three days. Around three, we reluctantly closed up the house, loaded the car, and headed for the airport.

After we landed and the plane had been taken care of, we dropped the guys off at their apartment and headed home. Unpacking finished, we found Gran in the sunroom, reading as usual. As was her custom, she carefully marked her place in the book she had been reading and set it on a table before acknowledging our presence. When she’d completed that little ritual, she looked up and said, “You two look relaxed.”

Charles smiled and said, “Well, Gran, three and a half days of doing as little as possible will do that for you.”

I added, “I hope you’ve enjoyed the peace and quiet around here, because it will be chaos as usual tomorrow.”
