“Everything all right?” Mrs. Webster said.
“He kind of overdid it a bit, so he’s lying down right now.”
“Whatever possessed him to walk all the way over to the church?”
“He was hoping that if he did that, I’d let him walk to the airplane tomorrow. I told him he was using a wheelchair even if I had to tie him down and strap him in it.”

That evening over dinner, Mrs. Lane told William and Henry about Dr. Mabry’s invitation to Noah and said, “I told them they could stay with us.”
“Certainly,” William said. “Just tell us when and we’ll be at the airport.”
“You folks have done so much already,” Mrs. Webster said.
“Nonsense, my dear,” Mrs. Lane said. “It has been my pleasure to have you as a guest. I don’t get out much these days and I’ve enjoyed the company.”
“Not to mention the fact that there are a lot of rooms in these two town houses that aren’t used very often,” William said.
