Chapter 42

In September, Noah once again participated in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This time he made the cut and managed to get all the way to the regional finals, where he came in third. Encouraged by his success, he readily agreed to apply again the following year.

They were excited to arrive in New York City for Tom’s performance at the end of September, especially because it was Noah’s first trip to the Big Apple, and they had a nice room at the Marriott Marquis overlooking Times Square. Their flight had been delayed just enough that they barely had time to shower and change before going to Lincoln Center.

They discovered on their arrival at the Metropolitan Opera House that their seats for Toscawere box seats in what was known as the Parterre. Because of the flight delay, they were running a bit late, and when they took their seats they were surprised to find two familiar faces in the box with them.
