“Good,” his father said, “because I’ve already sent an e-mail to one of my investigators. He’ll be digging into things first thing tomorrow morning.”
“What is there to dig into?” Tom said.
“He’ll start with the police report and go from there,” Mr. Foster said. “Noah said that the driver was legally drunk, which makes the case a slam dunk.”
“We can probably help you with that police report,” Noah said. “Give me a minute.”
Noah left the room and Mrs. Foster said, “What was that about?”
“I have no idea,” Tom said.
Noah appeared in the doorway and said, “If you can come with me, Mr. Foster, I’m going to introduce you to one of our tenants. He’s a sergeant with the JSO and he’s home at the moment. He works major crimes, not traffic, but he can put you in touch with the right people.”
“Glad to,” Mr. Foster said, and he followed Noah from the room.
When they’d gone, Tom’s mother said, “JSO?”
“Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office,” Tom said.
