Chapter 81

Noah dropped Tom off at All Souls’ early Sunday, as he had to play for both services, then returned to the house until it was time to return with the Walkers in tow. They arrived just in time for the choir rehearsal, which was held between the services. Both services were well attended, and Dr. Durrance was effusive in his public welcome of Dr. Foster during the announcements, reminding those present of the highly successful concert in the recent past.

They’d made reservations for brunch at the Grove Park Inn as a treat for the Walkers. Mrs. Walker was enthralled with the view from the dining area, situated as it was several stories above ground level— with a panoramic view of mountains as far as they could see. “And the food,” she said, when she finally stopped commenting on the view. “There’s so much food it’s a bit overwhelming.”

“It is that,” Tom said, “which is why we like to come here once in a while.”
