Chapter 93

The only complication was the fact that a crew from Casavant Frèresin Quebec had arrived in Jacksonville in late spring to begin installing the new pipe organ at the University. In a final meeting with Dr. Ambrose before he left for North Carolina, Tom said, “I don’t know which is worse—hanging around and watching them do the installation or going away for six weeks and wondering what’s happening here.”

“Don’t worry about it,” she said. “I’ve already assigned two of your graduate students the task of keeping an eye on the installation. They’ll be sending you e-mails every few days, complete with pictures.”

“Thanks, Agnes,” he said. “I really appreciate it.”

“Don’t give it a second thought,” she said. “You’ve more than earned it. Now go to the mountains and recharge your batteries. As I understand it, you’ve got a busy schedule ahead of you in the fall.”

“Noah and I both have.”

“Then go.”
