Alex jumped from the truck onto the concrete
driveway. He turned in the other direction, this time looking in
front of the truck. About twenty feet ahead of him stood a large
stone house. The front door was open, and it looked as if every
light in the house were on.
Alex turned in a circle. The man was nowhere
to be seen, and Alex surmised that he was on what appeared to be a
rather large estate. The problem was, he had no idea where.
Perhaps the man had left, abandoning Alex,
and what very well might be a stolen truck. Perhaps he had even
left them both on some unsuspecting person’s front yard. Or
perhaps he’s waiting behind one of these trees waiting to charge my
ass, Alex thought. He moved in a circle again, looking up,
down, and all around, hoping to spot the man, or find something to
help him decide what to do.
