Chapter 6

Either way, Alex knew that tonight was going

to be different. He wasn’t going to let himself regret any of this

tomorrow, and there was no way in hell that he was going to fall in

love.

Flagstones led from the driveway and Alex

followed them to a stone front porch. He tentatively made his way

across the porch and to the front door, looking in slowly, and

praying that this man not turn out to be an ax murderer.

From the open door he could see a white

tiled foyer. A chandelier that looked like something a French king

would love hung from the open second story. Alex slowly made his

way in, unsure if something, or rather someone, were going to pop

out and grab him at any moment.

Inside, a large staircase loomed in front of

him, and identical ball room sized rooms opened on each side of the

foyer. He smiled as he noticed that the chandeliers inside them

matched the one in the foyer. Strangely, there was a not a drop of

furniture anywhere.
