They were carrying briefcases—which looked very incongruous—but maybe they were
the remnants of an office party. Nuri watched them until they were out of sight.
He wasn’t usually superstitious in any way. But he was beginning to see what
Eddy meant. There had been a lotof costumes on the London streets this
year.
“I don’t know if
gang is the right word for a collection of Santas,” he said thoughtfully. He
didn’t want Eddy to become upset again.
“Now you’re
being pedantic.”
“I’m just
teasing us both.” Nuri turned back to Eddy, tipped his chin and kissed him
soundly.
“Tease me any
time,” Eddy said dreamily. “At this rate, you won’t need to start the engine.
We’ll drive on under our own steam.”
“I’d call them…”
Nuri was still thinking this through, his more logical legal mind on the case.
“A snowfall of Santas.”
“A blizzard,”
Eddy said more sharply.
“A sleigh-full?”
They started
laughing, and kissed again.
