Chapter 11

“I’ll graduate from UNF in a few days, and I’ll start on my master’s as soon as the summer term begins. I hope to be teaching next year.”

“Good for you. Teaching and piano tuning will give you two sources of income, and that’s always good.”

“Yeah.”

“Hi, guys,” Tom said from behind where I was sitting.

“Have a seat,” George said. “Zeke went to get food for himself and Josh.”

“I know,” Tom said. “I left Noah in line with Zeke. Did Josh tell you the news?”

“What news?” George said.

“I’ve offered him the post of tenor soloist at Good Shepherd.”

“Have you accepted, Josh?” George said.

“I’m thinking about it.”

“He and Zeke are coming to church in the morning to check us out,” Tom said.

Noah and Zeke arrived carrying food, and conversation ceased for a while. After we’d been eating for several minutes the conversation resumed, and I found myself enjoying it.
