Chapter 21

“I need you to take me back to that house two or three times—before there’s any furniture in it.”

“Okay. Why?”

“So I can spend some time finding my way around every room. It takes a while for me to learn that in a new location, and I want every room firmly fixed in my brain before the place is full of furniture.”

“Okay.”

“Before you do that, though, I need to know which of the bedrooms will be ours.”

“Why?”

“Because, silly, that’s the one I need to get the most familiar with.”

“Zeb and I talked about that, and if it’s okay with Norm, you and I will take the bedroom that has the private bath. We figured that would be easier for you to learn than a bathroom that was a couple of rooms away.”

“That was sweet of you.”

“Just looking out for my man.”

“And I’ll need you to walk me to the nearest bus stop a few times— just until I get the hang of it.”

“Okay.”

“Thanks.”

“For what? I like helping you and taking care of you—in and out of bed.”
