Chapter 29

One Sunday morning in early November, as Zeke and I were about to get out of bed to begin the day, he announced that he and Zeb were taking Norm and me to lunch at Biscottis after church.

“That’s nice,” I said, “but you don’t have to spend money to keep me happy, and I know for a fact that Norm feels the same way.”

“Don’t worry about it, cutie,” he said. “This is something we want to do. Besides, the weather has been so nasty for the last couple of weeks that we thought it would be a good idea to get out of the house for a change—the four of us haven’t actually gone out to eat for a month.”

“You’re feeling guilty about all those trips to Gainesville you and Zeb have been making, aren’t you?”

“Well….”

“I thought so. What time is it?”

He told me, and asked why I wanted to know.

“I just wanted to be sure we had time.”

“Time for what?” he said.

“This… and that… and a few other things,” I said as my hands roamed over his body.
