“Read this and tell me if I left out anything,” I said.
I went to pour myself a refill, and he sat down at the desk to read my report.
“Anything you want to add?” I said when he looked up from the screen.
“I can’t imagine what. You have a way of summing things up without saying too much or too little.”
“Thanks.”
“Boss, you’re famous for your reports, didn’t you know that?”
“News to me.”
He got up from the desk, so I took his place and sat down. I composed an e-mail message to Janet with a copy to the captain. When I checked my incoming e-mail, I read the most recent message and said, “Holy shit.”
“What?”
“Sergeant Sanchez has been busy. You won’t believe how many drag queen talent contests are scheduled in the next sixty days.”
“Over how big an area?”
“From Ft. Lauderdale to Savannah, and west to Panama City and Tampa. Look at this list.”
