“Obviously, you’re a regular runner, aren’t you?” I said.

“At least five days a week. I’ve even done a few races. What about you?”

“We do the River Run every year, and occasionally some shorter races.”

“I’ve heard about the River Run. Isn’t it considered one of the best 15K runs in the country?”

“You bet,” I said, and I gave her a brief rundown of the race route.

“That sounds like fun. If we’re still filming next spring, I’ll definitely participate with you.”

“Do you really think you’ll still be filming four months from now?”

“We have no definite schedule, and since I’m also the producer of this little epic, I’ve given myself a free hand to have at it until I’m satisfied with the results. You mentioned breakfast?”

“Let’s go,” I said.

We led Crystal and Lamar to the Derby House. Inside the restaurant, Carl and Jim were at a table, and to my surprise, Janet was with them.
