The sheriff introduced me to Frank Maynard, DDO of the FBI, and I introduced both of them to Nick. The sheriff and the DDO took seats next to the chief and invited Nick to sit with them. I noted that Lamar had cameras set up on tripods in two corners of the room. He was manning one of them, and Crystal was handling the other.


At the appointed time, Chief Bridges stood, made two or three brief announcements, and turned the meeting over to me. I went to the podium and launched into the background of the case, beginning with the murder of Madame Dixie. Gregg, David, and Janet took turns relating their part in the events leading up to the weekend that had just ended, and Janet gave us a PowerPoint presentation of her spreadsheet, pointing out the links between the crimes and the victims and the fact that all of the victims had turned up on porn films of one type or another.
