Chapter 20

They stripped, stepped into the shower together, and hugged for a very long time.

“God, I’ve missed you, Mickey,” Chris said.

“We just saw each other a few months ago.”

“I know, but that’s the way it is.”

After they’d had their ‘nooner’, they went to the kitchen and ate their lunch.

“What time is your meeting?” Chris said.

“I’ve got just enough time to get dressed.”

Mickey donned what he called his banker’s uniform and posed for Chris.

“Well, do I look okay?”

“You look like an advertisement for Brooks Brothers,” Chris said.

“That’s the idea, Chris. Dress for success.”

When Chris dropped Mickey at the bank building downtown, he said, “When will you be ready for me to come and get you?”

“I have no idea. I’ll call you when I head for the elevators, okay?”

“Sure.”

Chris drove home and fiddled around the house, killing time, waiting for Mickey to call, which he did a little after three.

“I’m ready,” he said.
