Chapter 26

Chris’ cell phone rang once they were in the car. He answered the phone, listened for a few minutes and said, “Thank you.”

“Thank you for what?” Mickey said.

“Letting me know that I tested negative.”

“Good.”

“Your phone will probably ring any minute now.”

“This is kind of an eclectic area, isn’t it?” Mickey said, as Chris looked for a parking spot at Five Points.

“You could say that.”

“What about this restaurant? You didn’t say much about it when I was here before.”

“It’s been here since the seventies and is run by a Greek guy. Best lasagna and meatball subs in town. It wouldn’t surprise me if we ran into some of my new friends here. This place is a regular spot for most of them.”

Chris opened the door and looked around the small restaurant. “Yep, two familiar faces,” he said. “Come on.”

Mickey’s cell phone rang. “It’s a local number,” he said.

“Then answer it.”

Mickey did so, and a couple of minutes later said, “I’m negative too.”
