“Because I took the promotion and I have ten days before I have to report to my new job. In practical terms, it means that I have to fly back to Norfolk, pack, and drive back to Florida.”


“I wonder if I’ll be allowed to come with you?”


“Come with him for what?” a voice said from behind Mickey.


“I’ve accepted a promotion to my bank’s regional headquarters here in Jacksonville,” Mickey said. “I have to fly home, pack up my stuff, and drive it back to Jacksonville.”


“Will I be able to go with him, Scooter?” Chris said.
