Chapter 35

“How do I look?”

Mickey stood and carefully inspected Chris’ face. “You missed a tiny blob of lather in front of your left ear.”

“Sorry about that. In the showers, the running water took care of things like that.” Chris used the washcloth to finish the job. “Is that better?”

“Yeah.”

Mickey carried the shaving gear to the bathroom, resumed his seat, and reclined back in it.

“Planning on taking a nap, are we?” Chris said.

“Hey, why should you be the only one to get to recline in comfort?”

“In comfort! Did I hear you correctly? In Comfort! Comfort, my ass. There’s nothing at all comfortable about where I am.”

“Sorry, babe. I was trying to be funny.”

“Well, try harder, because you didn’t succeed this time.”

Mickey got out of the chair, stood over the bed and kissed Chris. “Did that help?” he said.

“Did what help?”

“Do you feel more comfortable now?”

“Well… momentarily, at least. I’ll give you that.”
