“I am so ready for this,” he said. “I told them not to bring me lunch today, knowing that you’d be bringing something that tasted better.”

“If your appetite is back, that must be a good sign,” Mickey said.

“Yeah.” Chris began to devour the sandwich.

Dr. Cobb walked into the room and said, “That doesn’t look like hospital food to me.”

“Scooter, my friend, hospital food never looked or tasted this good.”

“What is it? If I may ask.”

“It’s a meatball sub from the Pizza Italian at Five Points,” Chris said.

“Right. My wife and I have been there a couple of times. They have great lasagna, don’t they?”

“Best in town, or so I’m told,” Chris said.

“You do realize that you may pay a price for violating your temporary dietary restrictions,” Dr. Cobb said.

“Yes, I do, and I’m willing to take my chances.”

“Chris, your chart says you weren’t able to urinate earlier. Is there any change in that?”
