MICKEY REALLY LIKED his new job. True, he had a lot more responsibility, but his salary had been increased appropriately. He was also really enjoying Jacksonville and the group of friends Chris had accumulated. Despite all that, he was still worried about Chris. He’d seen the psychologist three times without any appreciable change in anything, and the nightmares were still a nightly occurrence. To be fair, the first hypnosis session wouldn’t happen for another week, and that gave Mickey something to hope for.


He arrived at home a bit earlier than usual, but didn’t find Chris on the front porch, which was his favorite place, or anywhere else in the public areas of the house. He went to the master bedroom to change clothes and heard noises coming from the bathroom, so he investigated.
