Chapter 51

When they finally stopped talking, Chris said, “You were right. I barely understood any of it, but it was fun to listen to.”

“Don’t worry about it,” she said. “You and a colleague could probably do the same thing to Mitch and me with medical terminology.”

“Don’t be too sure about that,” Mitch said, and smiled. “I’ve picked up a ton of medical jargon doing malpractice cases.”

“Four o’clock Friday afternoon.”

“Why then?”

“Because I’ll be able to hold an impromptu news conference a little after four, which is to say, just in time for the six o’clock news. The other side won’t have time to adequately respond that evening, and they might not even get their act together until Monday morning.”

“The lady said you were clever and devious.”

“That’s me,” Mitch said.

“So we’ll be off and running Friday afternoon,” Chris said. “When do you think we’ll actually be in court?”
