“What are you going to do, kick me out of the Navy… Sir?” Chris said with considerable sarcasm
“Ahem, well, Dr. Cobb, let me give you the file and you can take Corpsman Bottoms back to your office to do the paperwork. You are dismissed, gentlemen.”
As they left the captain’s office, Chris lagged behind Scooter. Then he stuck his head back into the room and said, “Excuse me, Sir. You might want to watch the news on channel 4 this evening. I think you’ll find it interesting.” He closed the door quietly and hurried to catch up with Scooter, who was waiting at the elevators.
“What did you just do, Chris?” Scooter said.
“I politely told the captain that he should watch the news on channel 4 this evening.”
“May I ask why?”
“Sure.” Chris looked at his watch. “A few minutes ago my lawyer filed a malpractice suit against this hospital, and he’s holding a little news conference on the courthouse steps right about now.”
“Good for you.”
