On Thanksgiving day, Brody, Brian, and Mr. Murphy arrived at the Turner residence just in time to sit down to dinner. Brody had known Martin Turner, Brian’s brother, as long as he’d known Brian. Martin was more or less an older version of Brian, and had recently finished law school, and gone to work with a large firm in Orlando. His wife Sally had taken maternity leave from her job as a legal secretary, and was contemplating becoming a stay-at-home Mom, although when she said the words, Brody sensed an undercurrent of tension. Why do I think Martin’s not too happy about her plans?Brody thought.
Sally must have sensed the tension as well, for she changed the subject abruptly, and asked Brody about his plans.
“What will you do when you’re through with school, Brody?” she said.
“Pass my Board exam as soon as I can, and look for a job as an RNFA,” Brody said.
“You have to take an exam for that?” she said.
