“Look after Sheldon, Jasper,” Ron said. “Brody and I have to return to the fire.”
“See you later,” Brody said.

IT TOOK THE COMBINED resources of all three stations to finally get the fire under control, and Brody and Ron were kept busy, treating their coworkers for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
“That was a bitch,” Ron said, as Brody drove them back to the station.
“Yeah. Why don’t you give the hospital a call, and see how Sheldon’s doing?”
“I haven’t had time to tell you, but I already know. The captain told me that Sheldon has a badly broken leg, and third-degree burns on his side, shoulder, and back.”
“Sounds like he’ll be out of commission for a while.”
“He’ll probably be out for a couple of months. Fortunately for him, if you can call what happened fortunate, it was an on-the-job injury, so Workman’s Comp will take care of his medical needs, and some of his income loss.”
