“Why are we going to this dealer?” Brian said.
“Because they have a reputation for making good deals.”
“Then why didn’t you go to them first?”
“The other dealer was closer.”
The new dealer had exactly what Brody wanted, and after a bit of haggling, offered him a good deal on his truck. A couple of hours later, he and Brian headed home with Brody at the wheel of a new Taurus.
“Why in the world did it take so long?” Brian said.
“Paperwork, my boy. It takes time to prepare all that paperwork.”
“Yeah, and the guy wasted a lot of time trying to sell you stuff you didn’t want.”
“Can’t blame him for trying,” Brody said. “They make a lot of money selling extended warranties and other things.”
“And you saved a ton of money by getting a leftover model from last year.”
“Which is why it was so hard to find one equipped the way I wanted it.”
“It was sweet of you to put the car in both our names.”
