“Yes,” his father said. “People talk about tort reform, but nothing ever gets done about it. That’s because insurance companies are willing to throw money at people to make them go away. I’d like to see a system where if you file a frivolous suit and lose, you have to pay all of the costs for both sides. That would make people stop and think.”
“That sounds good,” Brian said. “How do we make it happen?”
“Don’t hold your breath,” Mr. Murphy said. “It’s been talked about for years, but nothing much ever happens.” He paused. “Anyhow, now that’s out of the way, I have a document for Brody to execute.”
Mr. Murphy handed Brody a legal document.
Brody looked at it carefully. “It does just what we want.”
“Yes,” his father said. “When that deed is recorded, the house will be in both your and Brian’s names, as joint tenants with right of survivorship.”
