She introduced herself as Patty Houser and said, “The motel has offered us the temporary use of a small meeting room. Follow me.”


Bobby and his grandparents walked through the door to the lobby, and Noah said, “Can my brother and my grandparents watch the interview?”


She led them to the small meeting room, which she’d already set up to her satisfaction. She directed them to sit side by side in a couple of banquet chairs, and she sat down opposite them. “Roll tape, Sam,” she said to the cameraman, and she began the interview.


To their surprise, she really did an in-depth interview. She’d somehow found out that they were a couple and asked a few questions about their relationship as well. When it was over, she thanked them and said, “I don’t know how much of this will make it on the air. It really depends upon how many ten-car pileups on I-4 there are that day.”


“Can we get a tape of the entire interview?” Tom said.
