“Shit,” Noah said. “He’s being entirely too nice. I wonder what’s up?”


“Could it be that he was merely testing you last night and has backed down?” Tom said.


“That’s a bit too simple. He’s either up to something, or he’s thinking about it.”


“Well, like you said last night, keep your eyes and ears open, and don’t sign anything unless our lawyer has vetted and approved it.”


“Let’s go upstairs and take a nap or something,” Tom said.


“I’ll hang around downstairs and wait for Chad,” Bobby said.


They crawled into their bed for a pleasant session, followed by a nap, and when they’d showered and dressed, they went down to the kitchen and were surprised to find Chad working at the kitchen counter. There were a couple of pots on the stove. Bobby was sitting on a barstool at the island watching Chad at work.
