Chapter 103

“What’s up?” he said as he struggled to come fully awake.

“Aren’t we going to the funeral home?” Bobby said.

“What’s happening?” Noah said, sitting up on the sofa.

“Time to go to the funeral home,” Tom said.

“Okay,” Noah said. “Where’s Chad?”

“He went home to get some clothes,” Bobby said. “I sort of asked him to spend the night. Hope you don’t mind.”

“Of course not,” Tom said. “You two have been having a good time, I take it?”

“You could say that,” Bobby said. He was grinning.

They washed their faces with cold water to help with the wake-up process and went down to the car. Tom drove out Normandy Boulevard to a funeral home that could easily be accessed from I-10 without having to drive all the way into town. He and Noah had a lengthy conversation with the funeral director, who appeared to be in his late thirties and was almost certainly ‘family’.
