Chapter 24

I think Kevin was even more pleased with the results than I, based on our discussion when we took the various documents home.

“Babe,” he said, “this is great. The titles to both houses are set up in living trusts, and we have living wills, medical powers of attorney, etcetera, etcetera, and, most important, reciprocal wills.”

“Yeah, if something, God forbid, happens to one of us, nobody has any legal right to screw the survivor.”

We’d discussed at length what to do if we both died, and had decided to leave everything to a foundation run by some friends of George’s in Atlanta. The foundation specialized in providing legal help to gays who were being discriminated against. It had been an easy decision.

“What about your nieces and nephews?”

“Those little fuckers! They barely know Uncle Kevin exists. Screw ‘em. How about yours?”

“At this point, there’s only two, but ditto. Not to mention the fact that my brother is a bit of a jerk.”

“That settles that.”
