Chapter 43

Grandma stuck her head in the door. “I’m going to take a break and sit out on the porch for a spell. Would you boys like something to drink?”

“I’m okay, Grandma,” I said.

“Me too,” David said.

“What’s that chart on the wall?” she said, coming into the room. “I didn’t notice that earlier.”

We explained that it was a graph showing how much money we needed to save in order to open our office, and how long we had in which to do it.

“You boys are so organized,” she said.

We decided to follow her out to the porch, grabbing a couple of cans of Coke along the way.

“David,” she said, “you have a really nice house.”

“Actually, Grandma,” he said, “it was my house, but now it’s our house—Kevin’s and mine.”

“I don’t understand.”
