“Here’s the card he gave me,” Kevin said. “It’s got his cell phone number written on the back.”
“Thanks.”
I pushed the speaker button and dialed the number. After a pause, the cell phone was answered. “Hello.”
“Hi, Charles,” I said. “David Majors here. We just got home a few minutes ago, and Kevin and I are on the speaker.”
“How are things in Charlotte?”
“We took my mother home from the hospital just before noon,” I said, “and she’s doing well. We had a little trouble at the airport, so Dad gave us Mom’s car to drive home.”
“Trouble at the airport?” he said.
“Here’s what happened,” I said. Then I went through the events of the day, step by step.
“That’s terrible,” he said, “and unfortunately all too common.”
“Yeah,” I said. “What would we have to do to sue those people?”
“You’d have a hard time winning a case against a huge government agency,” he said.
