Chapter 48

Much later, we went to the kitchen, fresh from the shower.

“Any more gifts of food from Mrs. T?” I said.

“She brought me lunch and gave me a lecture on taking care of myself but didn’t leave any other food. That being said, I think you only scratched the surface yesterday.”

I looked in the freezer and saw two unfamiliar dishes. They had labels taped to them, so I went back to the den and said, “Tuna or chicken?”

“Chicken, if you don’t mind.”

I took the dish out and nuked it, following the instructions she’d so thoughtfully left. After dinner, we relaxed in the den with a movie.

“We’re starting to look like an old married couple,” I said, “sitting around watching movies.”

“I wonder how many married couples, old or otherwise, sit around naked watching movies?”

“I’ve no idea. I did read once that a survey showed that of those people who work from home on the computer all day, one in eight of the men and one in fourteen of the women do it naked.”
