“The big law firm in the Barnett Tower, right?” I said. Actually, since Barnett Banks of Florida had sold out to Bank of America a few years back, it wasn’t really the Barnett Tower any more, but old habits died hard.

“The same. They’re one of my clients. The firm owns a plane, as does the managing partner. I can borrow one of them anytime I like, if they aren’t being used.”

“Really?”

“Remember when I went down to Sarasota for a weekend back in April?”

“Sure.”

“How do you think I got there?”

“I have no idea. You don’t talk a lot.”

“When, in twenty odd years, have you ever known me to be ‘chatty Cathy’?”

“Point taken. For the most part, you don’t say much, unless you have something new and important to say.”
