When I got home from work that evening, Mike was on the patio with a measuring tape.
“What’s happening?” I said.
“You mentioned a privacy fence, so I decided to take some measurements. It won’t cost too much to fence this sucker in, since two sides of the patio are already hidden by walls.”
That was true. The patio was between my house and Frances’ house. On the south side was my front yard and driveway, on the west side, my house. On the north side of the patio, my garage protruded out from the house almost to the property line, and on the east was Frances’ yard.
“All we need is a three-foot gate at the end facing the front driveway,” he said, “and the fence can terminate at the side of the house at one end and at the end of the garage at the other with a gate there to give access to the backyard. Think we can do it Saturday morning?”
