“I think we need to give the boys some cash as a tip,” Mike said.

“Ditto.”

I looked at the humongous pile of rocks in the corner of the yard. “Think that will be enough rocks?”

“Dunno, but surely there’s more where that came from.”

We’d brought a small bag of wooden stakes and several rolls of brightly colored twine with us, and we spent an hour hammering in the stakes and stretching the twine between them. When we were done, the route of the proposed wall could be clearly seen. The twins arrived around midmorning, and we complimented them on a job well done. We also gave each of them a pair of twenties.

“What are you going to do with all those rocks?” Zeb/Zeke said.

“Build a wall around the property where that string is,” I said. “Not a very high wall, just enough to show where the property begins.”

“You’ll need a cement mixer.”

“No cement,” Mike said. “We’re going to stack the rocks up without mortar.”
