“We took him out behind the school gymnasium, and he never bothered either one of us again.”
“Good for you,” Mike said. “I think you’ll do okay in the big bad city.”

MIKE AND I DRANK a couple of glasses of wine, and soon we were both yawning. I asked the boys to follow us down the hall to the guest room and showed them were the clean towels were.
“Don’t stay up too late,” I said. “We want to leave for the YMCA around seven.”
“Okay,” Zeb/Zeke said.
Sunday morning Mike and I knocked on their door before we went to the bathroom to shave. We didn’t bother with a shower, knowing that we’d be showering at least twice at the Y. We went to the kitchen and had a quick cup of coffee. The boys turned up a few minutes later. They declined coffee but accepted apple juice.
